Mengdong River
Mengdong River is located in the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Region, and it covers two counties of Yongshun and Guzhang. The total length is over 100 km. In the lower reaches, it joins You River, and goes into Yuan River. It named Mengdong River after the hole in its sources in Mengbi Vally in Longshan County.
Mengdong River is one of the sources of the culture of Tujia. One can know more about the history, culture and customs of Tujia though visiting the old city of Yongshun, the Old Town of Wang Vally, Laoci City, Tujia history museum, Tujia Custom Museum, Copper Post in Xizhou and the ancient tripod, pot, incense burner, axe and alms bowl and other living equipment. At the same time, one can take part in the various cultural activities in Tujia. The festivals of Tujia are very interesting and the Dongdongkui,Maogusiare boorish and let one thinks something.
Nowadays, the so-called Mengdong River scenic spot in tourism is not only the certain part of Mengdong River, but the middle and lower reaches of Mengdong River, a part of Youshui River and a large area of the middle and lower reaches of Lingxi.
