Huangshan Airport
Huangshan Airport is situated in the west suburb of Tunxi of Huangshan city, 71 km from Mt. Huangshan scenic area. It covers an area of 75 hectares with runways 2,200 meters long and 45 meters wide. Nowadays, it is up to the state second-class airport standard, competent for taking-off and landing for medium airliners like Boeing 737, 738 and MD. So far, there are 21 air routes linking up Huangshan and Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Xi'an, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Hefei, etc. There are charter flights between Huangshan and Hong Kong. The year 2005 also witnessed for the first time charter flights between Huangshan and South Korea.
Tourist's Review
Flying is the easiest and fastest way to get to Huangshan Tunxi Airport. There is connection from Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xian, Zhuhai, Guilin, Jinan, Hefei, Fuzhou, Xiamen and Chengdu and from Hong Kong and Macau.
I flew from Shanghai (Hongqia Airport). Because this is a primarily tourist heavily booked sector, there is no discount like other Chinese domestic flight sectors.Other fellow tourists came by train or by land from nearby tourist cities.
The airport is new with souvenir shop to buy postcards or photo book of Huangshan and with a restaurant. Conveniently 5km from downtown Tunxi. Airport code is TXN.
